Help a Couple Rebuild After a Scam
Donation protected
We’re reaching out today on behalf of a dear friend and colleague who’s going through something no one should ever have to experience.
Recently, he made a big move from Florida to Tennessee to start a new chapter with the love of his life. He and his now-wife were excited to build a future together, and like many young couples, they were doing their best to stay within a tight budget while looking for a place to live near their jobs.
After weeks of searching with no luck, they came across what seemed to be the perfect rental on Facebook — affordable, close to work, and available right away. They communicated with someone who claimed to be the property owner, signed what they believed was a legitimate lease, and paid all the necessary move-in costs. It was a huge financial stretch, but they were relieved to finally have a place to call home.
Unfortunately, just weeks after moving in, their world was turned upside down.
They learned that the person they had been communicating with wasn’t the real owner of the property. It was all a scam. Despite having paid thousands in rent and deposits, they were left with no legal standing — and were ultimately evicted. Just like that, everything they had invested in their new life was gone.
Right now, they’re staying with her sister while they try to recover and rebuild. But between starting over from scratch, finding a safe and stable new home, and still trying to manage everyday expenses, they’re in a tough spot.
This GoFundMe was created by his coworkers — not because he asked, but because we care deeply for him and his wife. He’s a kind, hardworking, and humble man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Now, it’s our turn to try to do the same for him.
If you’re able, any contribution — no matter how small — will help them get back on their feet and into a safe, stable home where they can finally start the life they’ve dreamed of.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read their story. Your support means the world.
