"I believe the children are our future"- Whitney Houston
Sadly Whitney is no longer with us, but I agree 100%, children are a most precious thing. The innocence, playfulness, the wonder, the curiosity they possess is a beautiful thing.
Sadly some children aren't fortunate enough to experience those emotions.
I've kept my hair short for most of my life, preferring the low maintenance style of hair, "get out of bed-n-go" . Late in 2025 I decided to let my hair grow out, I was just looking to do something different with my hair. Didn't know what at the time so I figured I'd just grow it until something struck a chord within me.
I'm fortunate to have a healthy full head of hair so I was just enjoying that gift.
This went on for a few months, still no idea.
Then one day while driving my car a purpose struck me.
My mother was a breast cancer survivor, she went through a harsh regimen of chemo and radiation to get cured, but she did make it through and survived many years beyond this.
During her treatment she lost her hair which is common. To support her I cut all my hair off.
The goal that struck me as I was driving that day was to do the opposite of what I did to support my mother. I would grow my hair out and donate it to a worthy cause, a child suffering hair loss as a result of cancer treatments.
I imagine a child might suffer from low self esteem among other things by hair loss or not having hair. Their confidence might not be as strong as it should be as a result of having no hair.
If the gift of hair might bring some comfort into a child's life, it would be rewarding on a personal level to know that I might help, small or large.
I'll post progress pictures periodically for you to track my progress.
That's why I'm reaching out to you to support Locks of Love, an incredible organization dedicated to providing hairpieces for financially disadvantaged children facing long-term medical hair loss. Every donation, big or small, makes a significant impact in restoring their self-esteem and confidence, allowing them to embrace their lives with renewed hope.
Your contributions will help Locks of Love continue their vital mission by:
- Creating high-quality hair prosthetics from donated hair, which are provided to children free of charge.
- Supporting outreach programs that raise awareness about the importance of self-esteem in children dealing with hair loss.
Join me in making a difference in these children's lives. Your support truly matters!
