My friend, who is also my coworker and a dedicated school counselor, has always been there for others, myself included. He, his wife, and their daughter finally set out on a long-awaited trip to Japan—a journey they had been looking forward to for years. While they were away, a couple stayed at their home to watch over things and care for their beloved dogs.

Tragically, while the couple was out running errands, a fire broke out in their home. In a matter of moments, 80% of their belongings were lost, and most heartbreakingly, two of their dogs perished in the fire. One dog is still unaccounted for. What should have been a time of joy and adventure turned into unimaginable grief and loss for their family.

The funds raised will help them replace essential items, provide meals while they are displaced, and support their emotional recovery as they begin to rebuild their lives. My friend has spent his career caring for children and teens in need, always putting others first.
