I recently met someone whose story literally had me in tears the very first time we spoke.

When I first saw this lady at a public event, she looked like someone who ‘had it all together’. Well dressed, friendly, bubbly.

Then we started chatting.

And holy smokes, she graciously and unknowingly put any ‘problems’ I was facing into perspective.

I can’t share any identifying information, but this brave lady had fled serious domestic and financial abuse with her VERY young family. She was connected with all the right services and was grateful to be in some temporary accommodation. She has been transferred to the area by the domestic violence services and doesn’t have a SINGLE family member or friend to lend a helping hand.

After leaving with only what she could fit in her small car, she has NOTHING. And (through my well-intentioned interrogations ) I realised she DESPERATELY needs some very basic and essential items.

This is more than just ‘making Christmas special’ for a family in need. This is about helping her to gather some urgently needed items to get through everyday life with a young family.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m pretty caught up with dog-related campaigns so for me to become invested in this lady‘s story is pretty unusual.
