Hi everyone, I am writing this on behalf of my sister, Dominica, who many of you already know as a warm, familiar, and established face here in Newtown. For the past 6 years, she has been an active part of this amazing community, serving, bartending, and managing with pride. Early Sunday morning, a devastating fire completely destroyed the JJ Stacks restaurant where she worked. While we are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt, the sudden loss of the building means Dominica is unexpectedly left without a job. Dominica is a fiercely hardworking single mother with 3 kids living at home. She is already doing everything she can to secure her next role—in fact, her recent local post has been met with an overwhelming wave of support, with dozens of people offering job leads and reaching out directly to help. She is eager to step right back into a fast-paced environment and work 36 to 40 hours a week to sustain her family. However, finding the right full-time employment, going through interviews, and waiting for that first paycheck takes time. While she works diligently to secure her next job, the daily expenses of housing, food, and utilities for three growing children don't stop.
