Meet Jasmine. This beautiful little girl began having seizures about a month before her fifth birthday and has been struggling now for 3.5 years. Life being upended is an understatement. The seizing has been an almost daily occurrence with periodic breaks that have gotten shorter and shorter, over the past 18 months has been increasing in frequency to the point where Jasmines life revolves around the seizing. She has been taken out of school, and gone to multiple doctors and appointments trying to find relief. Jasmine was diagnosed with Doose syndrome (https://www.epilepsy.com/learn/types-epilepsy-syndromes/doose-syndrome) which is complex enough I can’t even begin to explain it. The regular treatment and drugs have proven ineffective. Jasmines mom began her on a medical keto diet, however Jasmine isn’t able to get all of the nutrients she needs and has since had a feeding tube put in. Jasmines case was submitted to the doctors at Mayo Clinic and her case was accepted and she was placed with a world renowned doctor specializing in children with epilepsy. As if things couldn’t get worse, right after being accepted to be seen at Mayo, then the pandemic hit. Jasmines mom stays home to care for her, Jasmines dad is a veteran who works incredibly hard traveling and trying his best to provide for Jasmine, her 2 brothers, mom and dad. Unemployment as we all know is a struggle and the time it takes to get the money can be substantial. The financial strain is being felt by us all right now, but especially for this family of five. They left for Mayo today and with prayers and the knowledge of the doctors there, we’re hopeful for improvement for Jaz. The best care in the world comes at a price, and I’m asking for anything you’re willing to do to help. Thank you for reading and please say some prayers for Jaz and her family.
