Help 90 year old Dorin Dog rescuer who is losing her home

Donation protected
For more than 40 years, Dorin Boyce has dedicated her life to rescuing abandoned and abused dogs.
Many people in Barbados know Dorin and Woodbourn Kennels the small sanctuary and boarding kennels she has run for years.
With very limited resources but an enormous heart, she has taken in countless dogs that had nowhere else to go.
Many of those animals have gone on to loving homes overseas, particularly in Canada, while others were simply given safety, food and care when they needed it most.
Dorin never did this work for recognition. She did it because she could not turn her back on animals in need.
In the last few years Dorin has also faced some incredibly difficult personal challenges. Two years ago she was brutally robbed and left for dead by a disgusting violent individual, something no one, let alone an elderly woman living alone, should ever have to endure. Remarkably, Dorin survived that terrifying experience and continued on with her life and her work caring for animals.

Then, last year Dorin also lost her beloved husband Rudy, another heartbreaking loss during an already very difficult time.

Now, at 90 years old, Dorin is facing yet another life-changing challenge. She is being evicted from her life long home.
The property where she has lived and run her small kennels since the late 1990s is being taken back by the owner, and she has been given until 31 July to leave. This means Dorin is not only losing her home, but also the small business that has been her only source of income for many years, and the place where she gives sanctuary to so many of Barbados's Abandoned and abused dogs.

Although the house itself is now extremely run down and no longer suitable to live in, losing the land means Dorin will also lose the kennels and the work that has given her life purpose for so long.

Despite all of this, Dorin’s wish is very simple.
She wants to remain in Barbados, the country she loves, and continue helping rescue dogs in whatever small way she still can.
Even at 90, Dorin still wants to work and stay involved with the rescue community rather than simply give up the life she has built.
Over the past few days there has been an extraordinary outpouring of support. Hundreds of people across the island and beyond have reached out offering help, encouragement and ideas. It has been incredibly moving to see how many people appreciate the work Dorin has done over the years.
This fundraiser has been created with Dorin’s permission to help her through this difficult transition.
The funds raised will help with:
• Basic living expenses, so Dorin does not have to worry about how she will survive financially
• Finding suitable accommodation so she can remain living in Barbados
. Potentially converting a shipping container to make her a small home
• Costs involved in closing the sanctuary and relocating animals safely
• Helping Dorin create a simple, modest place to live so she can continue helping rescue dogs in a smaller way
Even a small donation can make a meaningful difference. If just a few hundred people contribute the cost of a cup of coffee or a meal out, together we can help Dorin face the coming months with dignity and security.
Dorin has spent her life helping animals who had no voice.
Now it is our turn to help Dorin.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small the amount, it will make a real difference. And if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser, as that can help Dorin’s story reach people who may be able to help.
Thank you for supporting a woman who has given so much of her life to helping others.
