This project seeks funding support for minor repair work in children’s homes no. 1 to 4 at the Tibetan Children’s Village in Bylakuppe, Karnataka State. These four homes have a total of about 85 children between age 7-14 years, both boys and girls looked after by home mothers.
All the children’s homes in the village were built in the early 1980's and many of these are in very bad shape with broken doors, windows, plywood ceiling, worn out floors etc. There is need for bigger maintenance work but due to financial crunch, we are not able to afford major renovation work at this time. Therefore, to given the homes a facelift and make it conducive for the children in live in, we plan to carry out some minor repair works such as fixing doors/windows, window mesh, window glasses and repair cupboards that are either broken or damaged. There are also little floor and wall plastering to be done here and there in the toilets and kitchen, change plywood for ceiling etc. Apart from these small repair works, we will also change the wooden beds, mattresses and cupboards in all the homes gradually as another bigger project.
