We're still here. We're still showing up. And we know exactly what it takes.
We're 50501 Harrisburg, the grassroots movement of everyday people who first showed up in February 2025 because we saw what was happening and couldn't stay home.
What started as a handful of us who found each other online became something none of us expected: 12 major protests, thousands of people in the streets of Harrisburg, and a community that has held the line for over a year now.
We're not done. Not even close.
Year 1 taught us a lot. We learned how to move fast, how to hold space safely, how to turn anger into action. We also learned exactly what it costs to do this right -- permits, legal support, sound, sanitation, safety gear, supplies -- and after covering much of it out of our own pockets, last year we asked you for help.
No one in 50501 Harrisburg draws a salary. We are entirely volunteer-powered, and we intend to stay that way.
But as we head into year 2, we're not starting from scratch. We know what we need:
- People. More than money, we need people stepping up to organize and act. But we also need the financial resources
- Permits can range from free (Capitol Steps) to hundreds of dollars (River Front Park), to thousands if we need to close down a street.
- $6-700 - That's the cost for 2 handicap accessible toilets and two more that aren't. We heard from you all how important this is, and we're committed to ensuring accessible toilets are present at each rally.
- Up to $2,000 to rent a large sound system when our volunteer-donated system isn't available
- We've also set invested in legal support. In today's world, legal support isn't a luxury, it's a basic protection for our volunteers and people who attend. The people who show up for this community deserve to know someone has their back, and that safety net is part of what makes this movement sustainable for the long haul.
- $100 per protest to insure that system (it's valued at $15,000)
- Water, coolers, and ice to keep crowds safe in the heat
- Safety vests for PeaceKeepers
- website
- signs
- banners
- free stickers and other hands outs
- garbage bags, and all the unglamorous stuff that makes a protest actually work
We've learned that resistance isn't just energy and anger. It's logistics. It's showing up prepared, every time, so everyone can focus on the work instead of worrying about what's coming out of their bank accounts.
This is year 2. We know what we're doing. We know what it costs. And we know this community shows up when it's asked.
Can you help us keep going?
Whether it's $5 or $500, every dollar goes directly to the real-world costs of sustained, organized, people-powered resistance. No overhead, no staff, no middlemen.

Questions? Want in? We'd love to hear from you.
Still here. Still loud. Still on the right side of history.
