Help 2-Year-Old Dexter and 14-Year-Old Isabella and the Becker Family
The Becker family—David, Meagan, 14-year-old Isabella, and 2-year-old Dexter—has been weathering one hardship after another since October 2024. What began as a sudden and terrifying health emergency has spiraled into a daily struggle to survive.
Isabella was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, a rare autoimmune disorder that affects muscle strength. Her diagnosis came after she collapsed at her school bus stop and was rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital. The medications and appointments have since consumed the family's time and resources. Her brave smile masks the exhaustion—and her parents' determination to keep life normal for her, even when their world turned upside down.
Then came the car trouble. Their only vehicle died, and although relatives helped with a down payment for another, they soon found themselves paying $2,000 in engine repairs just weeks later—money they didn’t have.
Work became a juggling act. With only one car, David and Meagan had to beg their employers to accommodate their chaotic schedules. Each missed day of work meant another mounting bill and another sleepless night. Then, in July 2025, tragedy struck again.
Little Dexter, just two years old, broke his femur in a freak accident. He’s now immobile and awaiting an autism and ADHD evaluation, after months on a waitlist. He’s nonverbal and struggling every day—and so are his parents.
They’ve faced eviction, gone days without eating just so their children wouldn’t, and watched their food assistance get slashed just because Meagan took a part-time job to keep them afloat. They're working opposite shifts with one vehicle and clinging to hope—but it’s getting harder.
