Help 10 Rusinga Orphans Cultivate Hope & Food Security

Warm greetings from the Lake Victoria Peace and Sustainability Center on Rusinga Island, Kenya.

Once a lush, productive paradise, Rusinga Island is now facing a severe ecological crisis. Deforestation and climate change have fueled drought and erosion, devastating the livelihoods of our community. With 70% of households relying on a rapidly collapsing fishing industry, the future is uncertain for our children.

But we have a plan to turn the tide, and we need your partnership.

Since 2014, our center has served as a beacon of hope, bringing back the "mother forest" through permaculture and syntropic agroforestry. We believe that to save our island, we must invest in its future—the children.

The Project: 10 Perma-Gardens for 10 Children:

We are launching a pilot project to establish 10 sustainable perma-gardens at the homesteads of 10 vulnerable orphans on Rusinga Island. This is more than just farming; it is teaching a mindset of abundance, resilience, and cooperation with nature.

We want to empower these children to become stewards of their land, growing their own food and sharing their knowledge, turning them into beacons of regenerative agriculture.
