Preemie Twins Need Helmets
Donation protected
Our 6 month old twins, Elijah and Isaiah, were born 2 and a half months premature and spent almost 3 months in the NICU. We are still paying off medical bills for them and myself, and will be for a long time. Because they were premature and twins, they have a higher chance of developing health issues.
One of those is plagiocephaly (flat-head syndrome). We’ve done everything we can to correct it naturally, but their cramped position in the womb made it near impossible. Elijah has a severe case and Isaiah has it moderately, and they both need helmets to correct their head shape. The helmets are $2,200 each. Since I am a nursing student and we are still paying off the NICU stay, it’s just not something we can afford.
Our babies need the helmets badly, especially Elijah. Without their head shape corrected, Eli and Zay won’t fit into bicycle helmets, their glasses won’t fit (they have astigmatism), they could have balance issues, and jaw deformities, not to mention their little heads just wont look right, and I can’t bear the thought of them being bullied. There’s also some research suggesting it may hinder brain development.
They’re very happy boys and I want to give them everything, but we need help to give them normal head shapes. Any help at all is immensely appreciated, beyond what I can express.
