Helena’s wheelchair van
Donation protected
In February of this year, NOW Shuttle of Vernon decided to donate an unused wheelchair van we had to a family in need.
I contacted local media to ask for submissions from people who would be able to use this vehicle.
I wanted it to change someone s life and not just replace someone’s aging wheelchair van.
After receiving about 20 emails , I visited Helena and her mom Connie in Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Upon hearing their story I realized I didn’t need to review any further submission's.
At 17 years old, Helena ended up in the hospital and with her illness found out she would never walk again.
After eight months of driving the van, it has some transmission problems.
The repair bill is $950, but because every day is a struggle for them she doesn’t have the money to cover the cost of the repair.
I’ve decided to see if I could raise the money to get the vehicle back on the road for them.
Here is a link to the story from Global on the day we presented the vehicle to Helena and her mom Connie
Please help them get their vehicle repaired.
Here is a text I got from Helena’s mom after telling them about this fundraiser.
We are so grateful to you for the van and it has allowed us to do so many things we Helena .. we even took her to a renaissance fair and camping .. ty so much for putting up this go fund me .. I didn’t even want
To mention it because
You have done so much for us but this van has been so life changing for Helena and we need it to be able to continue to do all the things she has been doing and allow her to have as normal as a life as she can.
