Funding needs: $16,000 ($6,000 for travel costs, $10,000 for supplies, surgeries, doctors)

This year, in November, I am participating in a ten-day humanitarian expedition where we ride horses to remote villages outside of Jaipur, India, deliver medical supplies, assist doctors doing eye surgeries, and deliver goats for food and school supplies for children. My goal is to raise $16,000; of that amount, $6,000 will go towards travel costs & supplies and $10,000 will go towards the purchase of goats @ $100+/head, eye surgeries @ $85/person, and new bathrooms @ $4-5K/ea. All desperately needed commodities in this part of the world.

 

My history with this organization goes back to my horse trainer days in Aspen, CO. One of my students that I used to train in show jumping, her father’s friend, owns the company that organizes these annual trips. We’ve spoken several times now and I know in my heart that I’m supposed to go and help.

 

This trip is electrifying for me on so many levels. It is so far outside of my comfort zone. I truly want to experience how it feels to make a difference serving the unmet needs of children in the world.

 

I was telling all of this to my friend Eva over lunch recently and before we even finished our salads, she generously offered two things: 1) a check, solidifying her special spot as the 1st donor and 2) her home for the fundraising party for all who donate and those who are considering contributing. It was so spontaneous of her, I almost fell over, but then realized… this is how it’s supposed to be… simple and magical.
