He Gives Me Joy

Hi!! and Welcome to my fundraising page!  For those of you who don’t know, I am in the process of adopting a sweet girl from China!

This all began in July, 2013 when God gave me a dream about a little girl from China who needed prayer. When I woke up, I began to pray for her, and God spoke into my spirit that this little girl was my daughter. When I went to His Word that morning, I asked God to confirm what I thought I was hearing from Him through my dream. The first verse I came to said, “I love your clear cut revelation” , and “I lovingly embrace everything you say, I shiver in awe before you; Your decisions leave me speechless with reverence.” Ps 119:113-120 I asked the Lord what her name was, and I saw the name JOY.

God has never spoken to me through a dream, so I was very skeptical. But, there are several reasons I think this is completely from the Lord, and not something I have manufactured.

1. I had considered adopting again ( I adopted my 2 children out of the foster care system about 2 years earlier), but did NOT want to do international adoption. If I was going to adopt, I intended to go through DCS again.

2. Joy is not a name I would have chosen (but I can say now that I LOVE that name!)

3. I prayed about it for several months, and every time I asked the Lord, “Are you SURE you want me to go to China? Are you SURE it is a girl?” He answered emphatically, “Yes.”

He has even used a cartoon to confirm his will for this adoption. One Sunday morning, I put on PBS for the kids to watch while I did my quiet time. During this time I prayed asking for confirmation that I was on the right track – that there is a little girl in China that is waiting for me. As soon as I finished I walked in where my children were watching TV, and the show was about a family who was adopting a little girl – from China.

Another day, I was in the waiting room at the pediatrician’s office. While we were waiting, I was thinking and praying for Joy. I looked up when my son’s name was called, and there in front of me was a man wearing a shirt that read “Got Joy?”

I don’t know about you, but I think that my God not only has a sense of humor, but also has everlasting patience with me and all the times I need confirmation of His will. Every time I have asked, he has graciously and gently said “Yes, you are on the path I have laid out for you.”

I don’t meet all the requirements for a single person to adopt from China, but I know God is on my side. Even with me not meeting every requirement, China has said they will approve me depending on the child I wish to adopt.

IICor. 1: 20-22 Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God’s Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his Yes within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge – a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete.

One morning, I was reading in a devotion book called The Middle by Diedre Lawson, and it spoke to me on a day when I was in a panic about the amount of money it would take to complete the adoption process. “True faith and hope is revealed in our actions. Let’s forget about what it looks like, how impossible it is and do what He’s called us to do in spite of it. When we act in faith, he will credit our account.

For those of you who know me or don’t mind praying for me, would you pray that I will be able to hear God’s voice over all other voices? Would you pray that if I start to go in the wrong direction, that the doors would close? Would you pray that my Joy would begin now to have dreams of me so that she will recognize me when she sees me? Would you pray that I will learn what He wants me to learn in this process? And, would you pray that the money will come in right on time and in His perfect timing?

A sweet friend told me that I will probably never feel “not scared” during this process. She gave me some good advice… Do it scared. If I wait until I am not scared, I will never do it!

On February 12, I submitted the last of the paperwork in order to get a pre-approval for my Joy.

And on February 25, I got the news that China has granted ALL FOUR waivers that I need in order to proceed with the adoption of this sweet girl! God approved this long ago, even before she was formed in the womb, and I get to watch this unfold in ringside seats. He most assuredly has big things planned for this little girl, and I can NOT wait to see what is in store!
