HEFY Ecuador Service Project

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Shade Joines. I'm sixteen, a sophomore, and live in St. George, Utah. I would tell you more about me but, to be honest, I'm not that fascinating. Instead, I'll just explain what I am trying to do. I recently signed up for an expedition to Ecuador, organized under the Humanitarian Experience for Youth or HEFY. For two weeks this summer, I will be building new housing facilities at an orphanage that primarily serves severely disabled and disadvantaged children.

I have the qualities needed for this expedition: I speak Spanish, I am experienced with children (I have two siblings younger than four), I am willing to put the effort into the work and I have done similar projects before. I helped in several service projects as a Student Ambassador of my school and a little more then a year ago, I was a volunteer in Guatemala for an organization called the Guatemala Children's Project (see the picture above). There, I built a playground for an orphanage using skills that are very similar to what will be needed in Ecuador. With my experience, I hope to be an asset to this project.

Which brings me to my purpose in creating this account: I need your help. Doing service in foreign countries is never cheap unless you can swim a thousand miles and survive with photosynthesis. The amount required for the trip is $2395. I hope to raise the money needed from this website and from other projects. Please consider donating to my cause so I that I can use the money to help others. You don't have to give a lot but every penny counts. Even telling your friends and family would go a long way and I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Shade Joines.
