My Family Is A Room

My Brother is the door closing and opening.

My Dad is the insulation that keeps me warm and is always happy in his walls.

My Mom is the phone giving me a call good news and sometimes bad news.

My cat Percy is the couch laying there that is magical bringing me to Neverland where the days never end.

June is the blanket for the couch cuddling down to my feet.

For me, I am the window. Without me there is no light taking the role of the moon.

Altogether we are a wonderful room.

The Heflin’s family “room” is profoundly altered by 12-year-old Auggie’s death on April 7, 2024. All donations will provide Eugene, Cori, and Paxton with comfort, support and assistance in their family's journey of healing.

Funds are intended for:

-medical costs

-therapeutic care in this family transition

-basketball club membership for Paxton and family travel costs for his tournaments; the basketball court is his space of joy and sanctuary

-reconfiguration of home spaces (such as Paxton and Auggie’s shared bedroom) when the family is ready

-family “tribute trips” in honor of Auggie

-local family adventures, such as taking Paxton behind-the-scenes at the zoo

-any other needs and/or outlets for nourishment, joy and connection, to sustain them in this season and beyond
