Today, I speak to you as a US Marine & Veteran. I came to the US as an immigrant, orphan and brown. #HeartlandToTheHill is not a charity, it's an ideal. The American Spirit.
I held back from fundraising as caution, because of division due to individuality. That's what fractured us before. I know my community and their needs. I back these organizations fully. As most of you may know, GoFundMe keeps a portion of your donation. If this goes against your standards, I've attached links to the organizations so you can donate to them directly. 1). Action Saint Louis/The People's Response STL - The resiliency of Saint Louis can be attributed to this non-profit, when the President via FEMA failed the people of Saint Louis in reference to the aftermath of the 2025 STL tornado. We could all learn what a community is from them.
2. Veteran Affairs - Due to cuts by DOGE the VA's capacity is limited. These donations will help Volunteer Services and Mental Health for whatever support they need. VA STL-Mental Health has seen me through my worst and best.
3. International Institute STL - Dedicated to helping refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers integrate into our community. Due to Federal cuts by DOGE, this cornerstone of Saint Louis humanity has faced massive cuts which affect their crucial mission.
4). Drapen I Havet (A Drop in the Ocean - Norway) I have had the opportunity to volunteer as a coordinator for DiH in Greece during the Greek Refugee Crisis. With this organization I learned how to become a peaceful warrior as I transitioned from the military. DiH has been on the front lines of saving refugee lives since 2015.
