Now is the perfect time more than ever to be apart and help out in a major way. From June 19th-25th I will have an opportunity to serve Children in need in Antigua Guatemala & Sacatepequez, Guatemala through the Hug It Forward Bottle School Project, where many children do not have the opportunity to further their education beyond the 6th grade. We will be building the next Middle School within a community that is lacking that and much more but here's a start!

Hug It Forward is a grass-roots organization that facilitates education and awareness by empowering communities to build “bottle schools”.
Bottle schools are schools built using “eco-bricks”: plastic bottles stuffed with inorganic trash. Entire communities come together to build more sustainable educational infrastructure for their future.
Hug It Forward also strives to raise awareness in developed countries about trash, consumption and the power of community. This mission is equally important to us as facilitating the construction of bottle schools in developing countries.

Your contribution will fund this Volunteer Mission Trip expenses:

The cost of the trip is $1200 per person which includes

-Housing (1 locations. Antigua Guatemala)
-Food
-Water
-Ground Transportation and bilingual guide visiting farms, family homes, places of worship to learn more about the people we are serving. ( Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepequez, Guatemala, airport transfers etc.)
-Spending time side by side with the village children to work on a bottle school.
-Materials to work on bottle school. (Tools, Gloves, eye protection glasses etc..)
-A community hike (gear, tools etc)

Flights are on average between $300-$500

Total cost minimum is $1500.

Why is this important to me?
I come from a large family. 5 siblings. My dad passed away when I was 8 years old. Mom was a single parent and times were not easy. We were not poor but we didn't have it all. With the little bit that we had we were able to make it by with help from family & friends. My mom loves to give. She loves to cook and still til this day she finds joy in inviting people over to eat and fellowship. Growing up my siblings and I would argue with her because we knew if she fed everyone there would be days we wouldn't have the best meals. We didn't understand then but we do now, that as long as we had a meal it's OK to give. Took a while for us to understand and that alone made me part of the man i am today.

The last 10 years of my life I've been involved in human services and youth development. Giving all that i could as long as i could to help people especially children in need. This project is just another level of how you and I can be a blessing to children in need. If we have it, let's give it. I cannot imagine a life without going the educational distance past the 6th grade. At that age I was ready to give up on school. Now more than ever we get a chance to help a kid who sees the value in education. Who just wants a shot at life to be the best they can be. I have a Heart to Serve. This will be my FIRST time on this trip and I would love for those who love and support me who may not be able to attend give through me and know that together we made this happen. I want so many of those beautiful children to know that this trip was not just supported by me but many here who now know about their struggle in Guatamala and would love to contribute and hopefully in the near future take this trip again with me!
