Heart and Highlands: NC500 Charity Cycle & Run

In August 2025, Kyle, Craig & Hannah are taking on the challenge of cycling and running over 600 miles around the NC500 route and beyond to raise vital funds for two amazing charities - Friends of Anchor and Alzheimer's Scotland.

Adding on an additional 100 miles at the end of the NC500, Craig will join the challenge and furthermore, Hannah will be running the last 10km.

Collectively, we will cover over 600 miles and finish the challenge as a team in Peterculter, Aberdeen!!

This will be a huge physical test, but the sole purpose is to raise as much money as possible for Friends of Anchor & Alzheimer’s Scotland.

The Motivation:

In December 2023 Kyle’s cousin Kelly, was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of breast cancer. Over the past twelve months, she has endured intensive chemotherapy treatments that have taken an immense toll on her body. Despite this, Kelly has shown incredible strength, courage, and determination and is a true inspiration to all. She has also undergone a 13-hour surgery to remove the tumours and lymph nodes. As if this wasn’t tough enough, it was then on to 15 daily sessions of radiotherapy.

This challenge is also about paying tribute to those sadly no longer with us.

Kyle’s Grandad Davie lost his battle to cancer in 2021, and his Grandad Jack battled Alzheimer’s until he passed away in 2014.

Hannah’s Grandad John bravely fought cancer until sadly passing away in 2011. As if the motivation wasn’t already deep enough for Hannah, her Grandpa Alex suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and passed away in May of this year adding nothing but pure dedication and motivation to the cause.

The Event:

The NC500, known as the “North Coast 500”, is a 500-mile route around the stunning coastline of Scotland. Known for its breathtaking views and unpredictable weather, this journey will push Kyle to his limits, taking on some of the most challenging roads in Scotland.

Craig will then join the challenge for the last 100 miles, and together will cycle on in to the finish line in Peterculter where they will meet Hannah who will have completed a 10km run from Aberdeen - Culter.

Supporting Two Important Charities:

The funds raised from this ride will go to Friends of Anchor and Alzheimer's Scotland—two charities that provide invaluable support to those affected by cancer and Alzheimer's. Friends of Anchor helps provide vital care and services for cancer patients, from emotional and practical support to life-saving treatment. Alzheimer's Scotland works tirelessly to improve the quality of life for people living with Alzheimer's and dementia and to support their families through difficult times.

Why Your Support Matters:

Through every steep hill and every long stretch of road, we will be thinking of all whose lives have been touched by cancer and Alzheimer's disease.  With every donation, we’ll feel your support and encouragement driving us forward.

Cancer and Alzheimer's disease touch so many lives. They are diseases that take away not only health, but memories, moments, and loved ones. Through this ride, I hope to raise awareness and funds that can make a real difference in the fight against these conditions. Every donation, no matter how small, will contribute to these vital causes, bringing hope to those who need it most.

Thank you for supporting us, and for helping to make a difference. Together, we can bring hope, support, and offer our love to those who need it most.
