Hi, my name is Courtney, and I’m a disabled single mother of two amazing kids.

I’m starting this GoFundMe because I need help breaking my current lease and relocation to a safer, healthier, and more accessible home. I’m asking for $2,500 to help cover lease break fees, a deposit on a new place, and moving expenses.

The two biggest reasons I need to move are for my health and my children’s well-being. Our current apartment has become unsafe. There is visible mold growing on the windowsill and in the ceiling of our living room. There has been leaks near the bedroom window, the toilet don't work properly, bathtub leaks, and some of the lights don't work properly to name a few of the other issues. I’ve submitted multiple maintenance requests since moving in, but after three months, nothing has been fixed—even issues they promised to resolve in the first week. My children and I have been consistently sick, and I’m deeply concerned for their health. One of my kids has an autoimmune condition, and the other is autistic—living in these conditions is not an option anymore.

In addition to the mold and neglect, the apartment is not accessible for my disability. The stairs make it extremely difficult for me to safely leave and enter my home. I originally moved in because I had no other safe option at the time—my ex was abusive and had people stalking and harassing me, so I had to leave quickly. But now, we need a fresh start in a place where we can feel safe and healthy.

I’m on a tight deadline and need to move within the next month or so. My health and the safety of my kids can’t wait any longer. I have very limited income, so I’m asking for help to make this move possible.
