Mamas Unfiltered's very own single mother, Mariam, is raising money for her nine month old son, baby Adam who has Torticollis.

This is a condition in which the neck muscles are tightened and so his neck and head prefer to gravitate to one position. Due to his condition the skull has developed a severe flat spot, also known as “Plagiocephaly”. Doctors have concluded that he will need “Cranial Remolding Helmet Therapy” and have given me a quote of $2500.

Helmets work by directing the growth from the flat spot, but they must be worn while the skull is still actively growing. Which means his therapy needs to start sooner, rather than later.

Without the therapy, long term affects can cause a stunt in his development the doctors say. He will be more prone to ear infections and developing misaligned facial features and jaw structure. This can cause pain, discomfort and/or development of a speech impediment which makes his mama fear for the life he might have compared to the one she wants for her baby boy. The Torticollis treatment will begin once he gets his helmet.
