Want to join me in supporting a truly lifesaving cause? I'm raising money to fund the Healing Through the Arts Summer Program for the F.O.L. Foundation.
This extraordinary organization was started by my friend and colleague Anitra Rice who lost two of her sons, Josiah and Jaden, to depression by way of suicide. Anitra, a licensed mental health therapist, has dedicated her life to ending stigma around mental illness and promoting whole-self wellness, particularly in the Black community.
Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. We are offering a summer program for teens in the area of therapeutic dramatic arts which will promote mental wellness, positive coping skills, community engagement, and creative conflict resolution. Drama is an inherently healing art, and your contribution will make a positive impact on the lives of young people who are traditionally underserved.
Anitra's remaining and youngest earthside son, Nicholas, is currently a student in the dramatic arts in New York City. Nicholas and Anitra have actively collaborated to leverage their respective professional expertise to bring hope and healing around mental wellness to communities of color. Their collective effort will realize the dream shared by Anitra and her three sons - to destigmatize mental illness.
Please be generous and share this fundraiser with all your friends on Facebook and across your networks. On behalf of Anitra and all of us on the board of directors of the F.O.L. Foundation, thank you for your support!
I've included more information about The FOL Foundation below:
It is our purpose to bring hope and healing to Black communities intergenerationally, mentally, emotionally and socially. This is done through culturally responsive individual and family therapy/coaching/mentorship, family programs and community partnerships.
