We are students and faculty from the School of Health Professions at New York Institute of Technology (N.Y.I.T). We are future nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and physician assistants. We have been selected to represent our college in a Medical Outreach Program for Refugees in Need, taking place this summer in Athens, Greece. We will be volunteering our time on a healing endeavor, assisting refugees originating from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. These men, women and children are in urgent need of medical care, physical and emotional support, and supplies.
This momentous journey begins with our vision: to be a healing change for those who need it most. This journey is made possible with your generosity. The money we raise will help fund our trip and enable us to purchase much needed necessities such as: medical supplies, baby formula, food, and clothing. We are grateful for your support which will allow us to provide life changing aid and the opportunity to pursue what we are most passionate about - helping those in need.
We will be volunteering alongside great organizations during this Medical Outreach experience, Love Without Borders, The STEAMM Initiative and Medical Volunteers International e. V., who have had a profound impact across the globe making a difference. These organizations will be offering the therapy and workshops needed for the children and adults living in the refugee camps in Athens, Greece.
Each one of us has our own story, our own reasons for applying to this Medical Outreach Program and we could not feel more joyful at the prospects of going where our services are needed, especially in a world that seems to be in a state of uncertainty. We have the opportunity to be that beacon of love and to spread healing. Although our presence in the refugee camp is temporary, our impact could be everlasting.
