My name is Khushi Patel, and I am a first-year podiatric medical student. This May, I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Peru on my first medical mission trip.
For the past two years, I have wanted to participate in a medical mission, and this trip feels like the perfect moment to finally give back in a meaningful way. Serving others has always been deeply important to me. Locally, I volunteer with Suitcase Clinics, where I help provide care to underserved communities, and I am excited to extend that service globally by working with communities that have limited access to healthcare.
This mission will allow me to grow as a future foot and ankle physician while making a tangible impact through compassionate care. During the trip, our medical team will provide essential services, including:
- Foot hygiene workshops
- Screenings for early signs of diabetic foot complications
- Basic wound care and mobility assessments
- Broader public health initiatives such as community health screenings, surveys, and educational campaigns focused on nutrition, sanitation, hygiene, and non-communicable diseases
Funds raised will go toward travel, housing, medical supplies, and program costs that make this mission possible. Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, means more to me than I can express. Thank you for helping me take this step toward serving communities both locally and globally.
