On August 25th, my dad, Dayton, rushed to the hospital due to severe chest and abdominal pain. If you know my dad, you know that asking to go to the hospital means he’s in a lot of pain. After a few days with no answers and no relief, he was diagnosed with an infection caused by his diverticulitis. His condition quickly became life-threatening, and he had to undergo emergency surgery after his intestines ruptured. He now has a colostomy bag and faces a long, new, and scary road to recovery. My dad has always been the one to work hard and provide for others, but now he’s been out of work, and we don’t know when he’ll be able to return. Watching him go through this has been heartbreaking, and the financial stress on top of his health struggles has been overwhelming.
