Healing and Honoring Sarah June Niyimbona's Memory

Donation protected
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Sarah. She was a shining light, a bright angel who lit up our lives with her presence. Sarah was intelligent, independent, and outspoken, with a unique perspective on life that was truly magical. Her selflessness and compassion touched the hearts of everyone she met, from family and friends to peers and teachers.

It's tragic that her potential was cut short due to lack of care. An act of negligence led to her passing and were left with so many questions. Over the past year, Sarah bravely fought a long battle with her mental health, spending countless months in and out of hospital facilities, seeking the care and treatment she deserved. It had been almost 3 months without having Sarah home before she passed. It's heartbreaking that the one place that was supposed to keep her safe failed to do so.

Depression is a serious illness that can be deadly. It's not something to be taken lightly or dismissed. We urge everyone to take mental health seriously and be there for those who need support. Reach out to your loved ones and check in on them. we've struggled to support ourselves through this process, and it's been overwhelming.

Due to the stress of medical bills and financial strain, my mom had to step back, and I've taken on more responsibilities to help our family. However, it's not enough, and the sudden loss has left us struggling to cope financially. On top of medical expenses, we're also facing significant lawyer fees as we seek justice and accountability. Any donation you can make will greatly help us cover these costs and allow us to focus on healing during this time.
Thank you for the support. Rest In Peace, our little Junebug.

UPDATE: Friday May 9th 2025
We want to thank each and every one of you for your ongoing support and generosity. As we continue to navigate the aftermath of Sarah’s death, our family’s needs have evolved. Recently we made the difficult decision to pursue a case related to my sister’s passing. This has introduced new expenses, including lawyer fees.

Additionally, we were working to create a lasting tribute for Sarah’s memory by purchasing a tombstone for her grave. As our family continues to heal, we’re also focused on ensuring the wellbeing and stability of my younger siblings at home. With my mom not being able to work, she really relies on your support.

In light of new developments, we’ve increased our GoFundMe goal to 20,000. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to:

  • Cover lawyer fees associated with our case
  • Purchase a tombstone for Sarah
  • Provide financial assistance for my siblings
  • Assist with mom’s rent and essential expenses
Your kindness, generosity, and continued support mean the world to us. We’re so grateful for every donation, share and message of condolences.

Thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.

With love and appreciation, Asha.
