Heal community, land & food-ways.

Hello Community,

My name is Skye Ellis and I dedicate my time to stewarding and healing community, land & waterways, food, and our relationships to these systems.

My activism, research, and community care have led me to many fruitful farms and gardens, classes and programs, and a wonderful network of folks devoted to food justice and equity.

One of the beautiful opportunities I've come across is Wild Ginger Herbal Center's Tropical Herbal Immersion Retreat in Costa Rica. Attendees will be gifted the opportunity to study and experience the herbs, foodways, and history of South Caribbean Costa Rica.

This opportunity is particularly aligned and exciting because my mother and family are from Caribbean Costa Rica. I have the chance of a lifetime to experience my history on my mother soil - to connect, heal, learn, and grow exponentially in my activism and food artistry.

Details for the trip can be found in full on the website linked above.
Expenses for the trip are as follows:
March 6 - 17, 2023
Retreat Accommodation by Wild Ginger: $1600
Average Flight Prices: $400
Spending - food, transportation, etc: $500

Your donation would mean more than a retreat for me; it would mean a deepened sense of self and more clarity in my purpose as the healing artist, student, activist, and steward that I always plan to be.

This campaign is for the sake of sustaining my soul-work as a student of our environment and of you all: my community. All funds raised will help support the approach to learning that I find most productive and sustainable; learning that is not separate from community care. I get an emboldened sense of purpose in feeding my mind and caring for my community when I can do so outside the walls of a classroom or the pages of a textbook. With your support, my learning journey can continue through stewardship: on-the-ground, in-the-field, community-based artistic activism.
