Rowing for Kids and the Arts!
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, due to COVID19, all of the rowing regattas that I would have competed in with my club, Cape Cod Rowing, were cancelled this year. The premier event of our season is the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston during October. This is the largest and most prestigious two-day rowing competition in the world. The organizers of the HOCR have decided to hold a global virtual event this year, with rowers from around the world entering to compete without traveling to Boston. I have entered the at-home event; on October 16 I will be rowing the race distance – 4702 meters – on my erg, and my time will be ranked with other competitors in my age category. To learn more about this event, visit www.hocr.org
For extra motivation, I have decided to turn this challenge into a fundraising event! My goal is to support two of my passions – children and the arts. Any funds I raise will be split evenly between Cape Kid Meals and Cotuit Center for the Arts.
Cape Kid Meals is an organization that provides weekend meals to school-aged children who participate in meal programs offered at their schools, but who have very little to eat over the weekend. Food insecurity is a significant reality for many Cape Cod families, and Cape Kid Meals works towards having no child hungry when not in school.
More information can be found at: www.capekidmeals.org
Cotuit Center for the Arts is a dynamic arts and cultural hub, hosting free and paid programming in the gallery, theaters and classrooms. The center is a true gem in the community and their incredible programming brings so much to the lives of a broad population of Cape Cod residents. I am especially supportive of their programs which serve disabled teens and adults, incarcerated youth, underserved populations, etc., through outreach and free programming.
Check out www.artsonthecape.org for more information.
If you are interested in supporting my effort to help these worthy organizations, any donation would be appreciated! I'll be training hard to be ready for HOCR4702!
Thank you!
Janet
