This was initially set up to raise $1,400 NET (almost an extra $150 does to the company-see explation of what they get) for Darlene to get of of the homeless shelter and into a house using an agency. 

An anonymous classmate reached out to Darlene. It seems the classmate had been in the same situation years ago. Now, that classmate is secure and has stepped up to the plate to "pay it forward".  What a great person!!

the site will be open for about a week giving additional time for people to contribute to help Darlene get on her feet. The plan is to make a check payable to Florida Power and Light on behalf of Darlene. 

I cannot not contribute since I set it up. LOL. The site gets a piece of the money so it has to be raised quickly.

I just did some math and the "company" gets 7.9% and $.30 per donation. Hmmm...That means we need to raise "about" $1,550

I'm new to this and am simply trying to explain.

I have spoken with another classmate and when the funds are collected a check will be made out to the organization Darlene says ( Florida Power and Light) needs the money and that will be sent with a letter explaining it is for her benefit.
