There is a saying that you often hear in Yucatan that goes “Donde comen 2, comen 3.” It means that where two people eat, there is enough to share with a third person.
We have experienced this kind of unwavering generosity since we began our immersion programs more than 20 years ago. When we travel the peninsula to visit old friends or find new families and
communities, no matter where we are, at lunch time someone always offers us a seat at their table. We have pulled up stools in hazy kitchens from Panabá to Peto, and Sisal to Sisbichen. And whether the meal that day is tortillas and beans, venison stew, scrambled eggs or baked tamales, we have always been welcomed to join.
Now, it is time for us to return the favor by supporting all our families and collaborators during this global crisis to make sure they always have enough to eat. Our goal is to raise $5,000USD which will allow us to provide 2-months-worth of pantry staples to 100 families.
Help us give back to the families who have already given us so much.
