In 2023, Census.gov showed that nearly 23,000 residents of Hays County were living below the poverty line, including over 4,600 children under 17 years old. These families often struggle to afford basic necessities, including proper footwear. Lack of access to shoes not only affects their physical health but also impacts their self-esteem and school performance.

Hays Cares is dedicated to helping these underserved children and families by providing resources, education, and economic opportunities. One of their crucial initiatives is Shoes of Hope, their annual shoe drive, which aims to provide underprivileged youth with new shoes and socks.

We have launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $1,000 for this year’s Shoes of Hope event, which will be held on July 27, 2024. Your donation will directly contribute to purchasing new shoes and socks for children who need them, helping them start the 2024 school year on the right foot.
