HAYLEYS ONGOING KNEE PAIN
Donation protected
Hi I am Phil, Hayleys partner.
In 2015 Hayley dislocated her knee causing the ACL ligament & Medial ligament to snap as well as a Grade 2 tear on the Lateral ligament. After 3 operations she had 6 years of very little pain in her knee & was managing to drive a manual car & go to university to qualify as a teacher, which she suceeded in with distinction.
Unfortunetly, after 6 years her knee began to give her a lot of pain, she relied & still does on strong co-cocdamol daily.
Hayley now can only drive an automatic car.
In the last 3 years she has had a further 3 operations to repair & eventually remove her meniscus. She has also had steriod injections in her knee.
Before her final operation in august 2024 she was told that the next stage would be a total knee replacement if the menisectomy was unsucessful. That operation was unsuccessful so Hayley returned to see the specialist in December 2024 only to be told they would not do the knee replacement as she is still too young & she may need another knee replacement in her lifetime.
This is obviously to save money.
The specialist consultant said there is another treatment that is not available on the NHS which is a gel injection which could last between 3-10 years & give Hayley a lot less pain than she has at the moment.
Her teaching job is demanding & involves standing a lot as well as sitting on low chairs & supporting children with a variety of needs. This has led to her having to have some time off to rest her knee & she is also having to reduce her hours of work to 4 days a week.
Hayley loves her job but it is a struggle & she often comes home in a lot of pain.
We are hoping to raise this money so she can at least try the gel injection & see if it works for her.
Hayley was against me doing this for her but I can't see any other way forward in the short term. A knee replacement is around £15,000 mark & I believe that is an unrealistic amount to raise.
So we are looking to raise £2,500.00 for the injection which will hopefully give Hayley a few relatively pain free years & help her in her work & improve her time with her children & social time as well.
I am asking family & friends to help raise this money for Hayley. Any amount you can donate will help.
Thank you in advance,
Phil
