Hi friends!!!!
Thank you for opening up this page and considering supporting Hayden :-)
Here's the story:
Hayden bought a sweet van a few months ago. Owning a vehicle that would allow him to sleep anywhere had always been a dream for him since he values being outdoors so much. If you know Hayden or listen to his music, you know that he has a really special relationship with and lens through which he experiences nature. So as you can imagine, buying his first van was a big big deal. He named the van Marty and was so excited to take it on lots and lots of adventures!
Along with that, he had been living abroad and simply needed a vehicle when he moved back. He found a good deal, bought the van for $8,000 and about a week later it broke down. He took it to the auto shop to get it repaired, it sat there for a few days and then Hayden got a call from the mechanic stating that the van had been stolen of the lot.
Getting a car stolen is never ideal but the timeline in which Hayden’s van was stolen was really worst case scenario. Essentially, because he had just gotten it it had not yet been insured to cover such things as theft. He also signed away liability to the mechanic for any theft on their property per usual protocol. And because car theft is so common in Oakland, the police officer assigned to it said there are too many cars to be actively looking for. He basically said “sorry but I won’t be able to look for it! I will let you know if it happens to turn up!”
Hayden and his family have been driving around Oakland and surrounding areas looking for Marty and have not been successful. Based off of the security camera footage we have reason to believe that whoever stole it looked like they were headed toward the freeway making it hard to even know where to look at this point.
All of that to say, Hayden is without Marty and out $8000 which is just such a significant chunk of money. Which is where you all come in!! Hayden is obviously prepared to simply accept that financial loss. But he is currently without a car and money is simply a bit inconsistent as he is getting his music off the ground! So I thought it could be a good idea to see if anyone would want to help. My goal would be to present whatever we have raised (hopefully the full $8000) by Christmas as a surprise! I know he will be so grateful for whatever people are able to give and probably want to thank you all personally.
So thank you so much in advance for considering gifting Hayden in this way!!! Feel free to donate here or venmo me if that is easier @autumn-north!
Much much love,
Autumn
