Open Haus of Threes - A Queer Collaborative

Donation protected

Haus of Threes  (@hausofthrees) is a queer collaborative and incubator - giving creatives and queer businesses the opportunity to do what they love alongside a community that supports them. The belief is simple: Minority + Minority = Majority. If enough people who have been told they can’t do it surround themselves with people who say they can… they will! The Haus was founded by Po (@po.ave), a trans/enby hair nerd providing gender affirming/gender nonconforming styles to LGBTQIA+ BIPOC & folx with disabilities. They have spent 20 years bringing people together who didn't have a safe space otherwise.

"Safety should not be a privilege, or a home a contingency. Haus of Threes is a queer collaborative, a home without conditions. A safe space built for and by our community to heal, nurture, and protect. A place to dream, to create opportunities, and a family to tell one another, “We got this!”. A family we know will see us when ours may not, when the world does not. Haus of Threes was the safe space I would dream about while living day-to-day in a world of no’s, listening to folx with the same struggles. In 2017 I launched the Haus of Threes pop-up in the greater Boston area. In 2021, our mission is to open the doors to a Haus of Threes physical space. Help us open the gates. -Po

We've found a space in Charlestown (in between Sullivan Square and Assembly Row T stops) which includes six large rooms (where Resident Artists will rent space), an incredible open floor/community space, a coffee bar, bathroom, and basic kitchen. The building itself houses other collectives of creatives, so the management is fully on board with our vision.

We need YOUR support to launch this! We are looking to raise $25,000 to cover the first/last month of rent and renovations (painting, bathroom, community space furniture and supplies, cooling). Resident Artists will cover the rent so the main space is then more accessible for the Haus to provide access to folx without means.

We are also looking for Resident Artists to rent space! Each room is $1,000 and can be split with up to three other people. We just ask that one person manages the rent for each room. We already have a few people signed on - a hairstylist, a videographer, a writer. If we're able to raise enough, the first 3 months would be covered for each Resident Artist. Resident Artists will be featured on our website and given full access to the space and all it has to offer. We are dreaming up pop-ups and community resources that will be offered in the space like gender-affirming clothing fittings, therapy, a queer library, a photography studio, a coffee bar, pole dancing classes, movie and dinner parties, and more!!

What it is:

  • A collaborative space for creatives to build their businesses or projects.
  • An intentional queer community that will support and uplift each other. Our values are anti-racist and gender inclusive.

What it is not:

  • A live/work space. Folks will not be able to sleep in the space. We will have open hours that are decided between Haus of Threes, the Resident Artists, and guests.
  • Unfortunately the space is not accessible currently. There are 4 flights of stairs and the elevator is not functional.
