Hurricane Counseling Hotline

About this campaign

This campaign is to fund the operations and promotion of the all-volunteer Hurricane Counseling Hotline and for in person counseling for both relief workers and victims of the hurricane and flooding in the regions affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The current referral lines are overwhelmed and unable to respond to the influx of needs.

The Hotline is currently in operation, having received generous sponsorship from BetterVoice, a digital phone platform, and also from QuantumMail for promotional materials including posters and business cards that are being distributed to hurricane shelters in the affected regions.

Funds that are raised will be used to support the marketing and promotion of the hotline, and for costs related to travel to the affected region by Hurricane Counseling Hotline volunteer staff.

If you are able to donate to support the Hotline, please do so via this GoFundMe Campaign.

Volunteering

If you would like to volunteer for the Hotline, please complete the volunteer application.  In particular, spanish speaking volunteers are needed in order to provide support to Spanish speakers.

Budget and Timeline

The hotline is currently active, and will be operated for as long as we are able to secure funding to support the hotline. Included in the project budget are housing, food and travel costs to send volunteer staff to the affected region.

Volunteer staff will liaise closely with local organizations and incoming international humanitarian organizations to build out the programs and man it with additional volunteers.

Acting Treasurer and GoFundMe sponsor Jack Miller will be managing the budget and disbursements so Amanda can focus on the work of operating the hotline, volunteer recruitment, and on-site relief work.
