For more than 30 years, Renee Corcoran has called Harvey Oaks home. It’s the home she shared with her husband before his passing a few years ago, and the place where she has built decades of memories and connections within our neighborhood.

This weekend, Renee experienced something no one should ever have to go through.

An armed intruder broke into her home, forcing Renee to flee to a nearby neighbor’s house for safety. Thankfully, Renee was not physically harmed and was able to get out safely. Her cat, who took shelter in a closet during the incident, was also found safe and sound.

What followed was an approximately three-hour standoff between law enforcement and the intruder. While we are incredibly grateful that Renee, her neighbors and responding officers are safe, the incident left Renee’s longtime home with extensive damage both inside and outside.

Now, our Harvey Oaks community has an opportunity to rally around one of our longtime neighbors when she needs us most.

We are raising funds to help Renee with the unexpected financial burden caused by this incident. Donations will help with expenses including her insurance deductible, repairs to her home, temporary housing, cleanup, replacement of damaged belongings and other costs associated with making her home safe and livable again.

After more than three decades in Harvey Oaks, Renee isn’t just a resident — she’s part of our neighborhood family.
