Harry's Story

We are so used to people writing our history for us. Often whitewashing history and discounting the contributions made by African Americans.

I think it is important for us to write our history so that the truth may be known and those who deserve the accolades can get their due respect.

With that in mind...I would like to bring your attention to the contributions of Harry Lee Riddick, and the awesome cost he paid for his community.

I don't think the story can be told without mentioning this. Although he might have chosen a way many of us would not have. He used the avenues available to him to uplift his community. I am sure many could testify to the times he has paid their rent or purchased school clothes for children in the community. And after the Black Business Men's Association was founded, he and a few other men began to put on events to give back to the community. I don't think there is anyone in our community that can say a negative word about him. And although he may have gone about it differently, he has paid his cost for those things as well. After spending 27 yrs incarcerated to make right the wrongs he had committed, he returned to the streets still trying to uplift and unite the community. He turned a parking lot into a gathering place where people could come and eat and enjoy some positive fellowship.

Today we have a chance to give back to a man who gave his all for us. The black community of Allentown.

Because of his declining health, Harry is battling for his life right now. And it is our responsibility to stand in the gap for him and his family today with mounting health care costs. We are asking for Allentown to stand up!!, come together and help Mr. Harry Lee Riddick with whatever monetary gifts we can offer to offset the expensive procedures he is going through due to his fight to beat cancer.

We know that God loves us all and some of us take different roads to get there. But Harry is a true believer in Jesus Christ. The Bible says" How will they know us" ..By our love for one another.

So I am asking you to please join us in a giving campaign to assist Harry and his family with paying the costs of his medical procedures.

Today we have the power to give back to someone who has given so much to each of our families. Allentown it's time to show your love for Mr. Harry Lee Riddick. Let's give this man his flowers while he is here to receive them.
