Please help us recover and rebuild!
The last six months have been an emotional and financial rollercoaster for us and we need help to recover.
Here's a quick back story for those who may not know us....
Scott and I both grew up in Poway, CA. His little sister is my best friend and he is my older brothers best friend. As many friends do, we lost touch, with I moving to Florida while he continued living in southern California.
About five years ago, I moved back home to San Diego after 15+yrs in Florida. It was just myself and my 2yr old son, so my brother offered me a place to stay. I moved into a house that was shared by Scott and my brother.
Shortly after moving in, Scott and I fell in love. He stepped up to the role of father and provider for my son, whom he had fallen in love with too. For the next few years, it was a wonderful balance of happiness and discovery. But not without a healthy dose of financial uncertainties.
Last April, we were blessed to discover that I was pregnant. This would be Scotts first biological child, so we were beyond excited. A few months into the pregnancy, we found out that our son had a heart defect. In utero, there was no risk to the baby but we were told he would need heart surgery within days of birth. So begins our emotional journey with our bundle of joy....
But things were going to get even more complicated in our lives......
Not long after we were given the scary news about our unborn child, we found out that we had to move! In early October we lost our savings to a Craigslist scam and had to start over with nothing.
In mid-December our son ,Sheldon, was born 6weeks early. He was rushed to Radys Children's hospital in San Diego, where he was admitted into their intensive cardiac unit. Within days of being admitted, he underwent surgery. It was touch and go for the first day or two but our little fighter pulled through. For the next few weeks, Scott and I spent our days traveling back and forth to Radys.
Because of the time taken to be with our son, our finances took a huge hit. In an attempt to help, Scott got a second job. That did not help. We still have not been able to recover from the loss off work suffered between December and January.
We are falling behind on rent. Our car has been repossessed, leaving us with Scotts work truck as our sole vehicle. We still owe medical expenses that were not covered by Sheldons insurance. And throughout this all, we have yet to be able to build Scotts business back up to professional working order.
We desperately need help. I know that we have many friends that would like to help us if they could. I'm hoping that with a little bit of help from a lot of caring people, we can get our feet on solid ground. Please help us recover and rebuild.
