Harmony's Heart: A Father's Sacrifice

Donation protected
My daughter Harmony is having open-heart surgery next week. She is 15 years young and aspires to be a large animal veterinarian one day. She is top of her class and is working hard to obtain a 5.0 GPA. She is the only sophomore I've ever seen taking AP college courses. She is a secretary officer of her FFA chapter at school. She made All-State in orchestra playing viola and is on the COYO Philharmonic orchestra. She raises hogs and shows at county/state fair competitions for FFA/4-H. She truly is an amazing and gifted young woman.

She loved playing hockey and running track but was suffering from dizziness and fatigue regularly. A few months ago, her doctor recommended an echo of her heart. We learned that she has a very rare heart condition: "Anomalous origin from the opposite aortic sinus." One of her arteries is on the wrong side of her heart and crosses the pulmonary artery, causing it to be pinched during strenuous activities. The finding of this condition is usually after an autopsy/cause of death. We are already so very blessed to have found this while she is still healthy. The procedure itself, we're told, is highly successful in young and healthy patients like Harmony. She will be in the best hands possible at Doernbecher children's hospital in Portland. The recovery, however, will be the roughest part of this dynamic.

While most medical costs are covered, thankfully. There will still be a financial struggle during this time. Being a single father of three children, I will be unable to work until my daughter can care for herself without help. Any support will go to help pay rent, bills, food, and gas. I will be unable to work beginning January 9th through February. It is not easy for me to ask for help. Any kind of support is immensely appreciated, even a prayer. My right-hand man will be overseeing job's while I am away. Thank you all very much for your prayers and support!
