Hardworking 20 yo young man who needs a break
Donation protected
My name is Pam and I want to tell you the heartbreaking story of an amazing young man and his equally amazing 9 year old brother. I am trying hoping to raise $5000.00 for the purchase of a reliable used car and a new water heater for my 20-year old nephew.
Meet Joey! He is 20 years old and an extremely hardworking young man. The little guy in the picture is Joey's half-brother, Tyler. Just over 3 years ago, these boys lost their mother very unexpectedly. They were then left in the care of Tyler's dad. Their Papa Joe lived next door to the boys and Papa Joe lived for these boys. Papa Joe and the boy's, Aunt Christine saw to it that the boys always had everything that they needed, after their mom passed away. Their mom's death left an unbelievable void in the hearts of her boys. Things got worse for the boys then in September 2018 when their Papa Joe passed away. Tyler will tell you that he literally lost his best friend on that day. If you can believe it, there was worse things to come for these boys. In January 2019, Tyler's dad abandoned the two boys, leaving Tyler in the care of his 20 yo brother who could barely take care of himself. Literally, overnight, Joey found himself responsible for all of the household bills as well as having the responsibility to care for all of Tyler's needs. To say that all of these life experiences overwhelmed the boys would be an extreme understatement.
Joey found himself having some very difficult decisions to make. One of those decisions was wanting to do what was best for Tyler. Joey wanted Tyler to have the childhood that every 9 year old deserves. Joey and his Aunt Christine discussed what was best for Tyler and they ultimately thought it best that Tyler's Uncle Paul get custody of Tyler. This meant that Tyler would need to move to a new city, start a new school, and essentially start a new life. So, Tyler came to live with me, Pam (Aunt Pam) and his Uncle Paul. I am happy to report that Tyler has adjusted well to his new life, new school, new friends, and he has stated on more than one occasion, that he "finally feels like a normal kid!" Tyler is thriving and he has everything that a 9 year old could want. I know this decision did not come easy for Joey or for his Aunt Christine, but it was a very mature, unselfish decision on Joey's part. Tyler has even stated that Joey has told him that he (Joey) wishes that he had Tyler's life right now.
After Joey graduated from high school, he got himself a job, as an orderly, at a local hospital where he lives . He works full-time, on the night shift and picks up all the overtime he can get. You see, Joey is the man of the house now and he is responsible for paying thousands of dollars of back taxes on the house, he is solely responsible for paying very large past due balances on most of the other bills, that Tyler's dad had put in Joey's name, without Joey's knowledge. Joey has had at least three vehicles, all which only go for so long, and then they die. Without a vehicle, he needs to use Uber to get back and forth to work which is an extra expense that Joey can't afford. Recently, Joey's dryer broke and he worked lots of overtime and had some help from his aunt and uncle to be able to purchase another dryer. Unfortunately, his water heater broke and needs to be replaced. If that isn't enough, his current car broke down and the cost of repair is more than the car is worth. So, Joey is back to relying on Uber to get back and forth from work.
Joey is a hardworking young man who truly deserves to catch a break. He chooses to do the "right" thing on a daily basis and is too proud to ever ask anyone for help. I have started this campaign with the hope of raising $5000.00 to give to Joey to purchase a reliable used car and to pay some of the back debt on the house that truly should not be his responsibility. It is my hope that this campaign will raise the target amount within the next month. I know with this money, Joey would have a tremendous amount of weight lifted off of his shoulders. Any extra money raised would also go to Joey so that he could, for the first time in his adult life, maybe have a bit of room to breathe. I think we all need that and no one deserves that more than Joey. No one would be more grateful than Joey. If everyone could find it in their hearts to donate even just a small amount, $5-$10, we could definitely make a tremendous difference in Joey's life. We can reach even more people in an effort to raise funds for Joey's car and water heater, if everyone can share this on their Facebook pages. The more people who share this, the more people we can reach. Thank you in advance for sharing!
Thank you for taking the time to read about Joey and Tyler.
