Happy Hours Foundation School in Uganda

Like many of you, my view of world expanded over the last few years. I learned about this situation and opportunity in Uganda through online conversations and discovered a growing story of rescue and support of children by a man named Vincent and a small group of caring friends. I'd love to provide the needed funds myself, but the needs are beyond my capacity, and to do so would deprive others of the opportunity to get involved in the children's lives.

In the heart of Uganda's Bugiri district lies a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable. Jovian Happy Hours Foundation Ltd, a dedicated non-profit, emerged from an act of kindness in 2014 and has since been a sanctuary for children whose futures seemed bleak.

Their journey began outside a local church in the town of Bugiri, where they met Victoria, a three-year-old girl abandoned and sleeping alone. Moved by her plight, they founded Happy Hours Orphanage in Kiwalazi village to offer education, nourishment, and hope to children like Victoria. Today, they serve over 150 children with God's love, providing them not only with education but also with a safe haven from the adversities they face daily.

These children, many of whom have been affected by HIV, neglect, or abuse, come from streets where their realities included sniffing fuel and a constant struggle for survival. The orphanage is their escape, offering a promise of a better tomorrow through education and care. However, our aspirations extend beyond the rented shelter. We dream of owning land to build a permanent home for our school, a vocational center to empower the youth with skills like tailoring, carpentry, and hairdressing, while providing the physical, emotional and psychological support these children desperately need.

Our mission is clear: to uplift and transform the lives of vulnerable children, from those born into poverty or without parents to the physically challenged. We aim to advocate for their rights, nurture their talents, and provide them with the essentials of life so they can envision and work towards a brighter future.

The Path Forward

As we look to the future, our goals are ambitious but essential. We seek to reduce the number of children living on the streets, provide comprehensive support to orphans and vulnerable children, and ensure every child we touch can live a happy, healthy life. Our vision is to create a new view of the world where the less privileged are given a chance to change and uplift their lives and voices through empowerment, education and togetherness for a better tomorrow.
