THANK YOU TO ALL WHO KINDLY DONATED. WE WERE ABLE TO HELP 23 FAMILIES WHO LOST THEIR HOMES IN THE PARADISE AREA FIRES OF EARLY NOVEMBER. SINCE THE GOAL WAS TO PROVIDE HELP WITH CHRISTMAS WE ARE NO LONGER TAKING DONATIONS AS OF TODAY (12/19/2018). IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GIVE PLEASE CONSIDER OTHER GO FUND ME SITES AS WELL AS NON-PROFIT AGENCIES SUCH AS THE RED CROSS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!!!!!!
The Camp Fire’s destruction of the town of Paradise is one of the worst catastrophes in the history of the United States. Over 90% of this town of 27,000 lost their homes and many lost family members. While much clothing, food and other essentials are flowing into the area to help those who were impacted we want to provide support and assistance so that these families can provide a happy holiday for their children. We will do that by donating cash and gift cards so that parents can purchase the gifts that their children need/want as well as obtaining Christmas trees, lights or whatever else they need to provide a happy and memorable holiday season for their family. All funds donated will go 100% to help families identified. Any extra funds left over at the end of the holidays will be donated to the American Red Cross. Thank you for helping us to help these catastrophe stricken families to have a joyous holiday season and to give their children something positive to build on after so much destruction and loss.
My name is Tad Cluff and I work for Travelers Insurance Companies based in San Francisco, CA. My assigned region is Northern California so I work closely with employees, agents and clients throughout the Northern California area including the Chico area where the town of Paradise is located. A friend of my wife told us about her brother's family who lost everything in the Paradise fire. We decided to do something to help. After discussing with friends and co-workers at Travelers I decided to launch this fund raiser. We are looking to help family and friends of employees, partner agents and clients of Travelers. We will help as many families as we can identify that have suffered significant losses from the fires. We need help to identify as many families as possible so that we can get them assistance to enjoy the holidays in the form of cash and/or gift cards which will allow them to purchase what they need for their families. As new families are identified we will reach out to them and confirm their circumstances and then we will withdraw funds to get them the financial support needed to provide a happy holiday to their loved ones.
Update 11/28/2018: We now have over 20 Paradise families that we have confirmed as having lost their homes and much in need of assistance. We will continue to fund raise and try to help as many as possible. Funds will be dispersed based on the number of direct family members and we will start dispersing next week in the order that we we became aware of the family. We will disperse until our funds are exhausted. As additional funds come in we will continue to disburse to additional families. At the current rate of donations we will not likely be able to disperse to all families who have approached us for help. But we will do our best to provide happy holidays to as many as we can.
Note: this is initiative is not supported or sponsored by Travelers Insurance Companies or its affiliates.
