Hi everyone, I’m Amy Macaraeg from Spruce Grove, Alberta. Yesterday around 1 pm, my brother Butch had a terrible accident while working in the garage. He was using a miter saw and accidentally cut off his index finger and severely injured his middle finger. He doesn’t have Alberta Healthcare because of his immigration status is still in the process.

He called me saying, “Ate, sorry, naaksidente ako” (Big sister, sorry—I had an accident), while showing me his injured hand and holding his cut-off finger. My poor brother was in shock, and my heart broke seeing the pain and frustration on his face.

I rushed him to Stony Plain Hospital while on the phone with 911, and he was later transferred to the University of Alberta Hospital for surgery. The doctors couldn’t save his index finger, but thankfully they were able to reattach his middle finger, which is still under close observation.

We’re now facing approximately $20,000 plus with the surgery, anesthesiologist and hospital bills. With a heavy but hopeful heart, I’m asking for any help—whether through donations, prayers, or kind words—to support his healing and recovery.

Butch is a hardworking, humble man who’s always used his hands to help others. Now, I’m praying and asking that you lend him—and us—a helping hand as he heals. ❤️
