Halo Mission Trip to Zambia, Africa

I have the opportunity to fill a volunteer spot in the organization, HALO (Health and Education for Orphans) Missions. The mission trip will be from September 8-18, 2017. This is a non-profit charity formed by Christopher P. McGuire, Esq., and James Bopp, MD.
These children live in the jungles of Zambia and have limited to no access to health care. I will be one of the team of Dentists going down to help the children receive their first oral care and to help rid them of their chronic untreated dental pain. Additionally, a medical team and an ophthalmic team will be attending.
Last year a team of 6 dentists extracted over 1200 teeth that were causing chronic dental pain and potential life threatening infections. Last year the ophthalmologist performed 17 cataract surgeries and restored vision to the individuals who were considered legally blind. Each year the amount of care has grown drastically.
For 2017, the dental team expects to treat over 1,000 patients. The ophthalmic team expects to perform an excess of 40 surgeries. The medical team expects to treat several dozen patients, and this will be the first year that we will have a wound clinic at a local hospital where surgical techniques can be performed in a sterile setting, IV antibiotics can be provided, and x-rays can be utilized.
Funds help with travel expense, healthcare for the orphans, uniforms for their school, and this year we are going to help provide an irrigation system for one of the villages.
Each donator will be recognized and receive statistics on the amount and type of care provided.
