Half marathon to support Warming up the Homeless charity
At the beginning of October last year on a trip away with some lovely friends who regularly run , I somehow ended up agreeing to run the Hastings half marathon! And no I wasn’t drunk at the time. It was something I had always envied others being able to do, but at that time I had not run for years ( well since I was a kid at least !) and every year would say maybe one year but then no chance! I slowly started to get my head around what I had signed up for , telling only a few people about my moment of madness. One of the first I told was my dear Dad who was excited to see it happen . Sadly he passed away suddenly just 3 weeks later, and running pretty much went out the window since - however, I want to run it , as much as it frightens the life out of me ! I’m running in memory of my Dad , to support a local charity -Warming Up The Homeless and every donation will help. This charity is a lifeline for the most marginalised in our town , it’s sad in this day and age we have to have such charities, and the need is getting greater for it week by week, but the work they do is amazing . Please sponsor me and give me some inspiration in this cold dark weather , carrying more than a few extra Xmas lbs , to pound the hills of Hastings ! Thank you in advance for reading my story , your contribution to this cause that means so much to me. My Dad was someone who also always cared about people who struggle injustice which makes it even more meaningful.
