Hakeem & Kayla's Surrogacy Support
Donation protected
Most of you reading this may already know the story of our sweet boy and unexpected loss. After 38 weeks of pregnancy, with less than a week left to go, we lost our boy— Semiu Zade Adeniji. There was no reason, there are no answers, we’re just left with the heartbreak and his memory.
If you know Hakeem and I, you know that there is nothing that we want more in life than a big, loving family. The journey has already been a long road for us after unexplained infertility, the financial, physical, and emotional toll of a failed IVF transfer and finally, a pregnancy.
We moved to Cleveland for the start of a new season with the Browns and early into the pre-season, Hakeem sustained a traumatizing knee injury. This later led to us rushing to the ER to discover he had Pulmonary Embolisms on his lungs. Fortunately, he was released and declared stable, but will be on blood thinners for the foreseeable future and thus unable to immediately return to the sport that is his career.
The silver lining in all of this was coming home together and Hakeem would get to spend the rest of the year being a dad and would be present for the birth and life of our first child. On the night of November 1st, I went in to the hospital for reduced movement just out of caution and by 12am on November 2nd, I gave birth to my lifeless son.
While all of this has left us with empty arms, we are not giving up on the family on our hearts. I am currently in a postpartum body facing postpartum struggles with no baby to hold—no, “it was all worth it” in my hands to ease the pain. Because of my procedure, we do not know when or even if I will be able to carry a child. This has led us to our next hope: Surrogacy.
This Go Fund Me is for anyone that has asked, “how can I help?” This will still be a long and very difficult journey but we appreciate anyone that is willing to help. We do not expect anything at all and if you know my husband and I, we never like to ask for help but this is now where our focus is. We still have plenty of embryos from our IVF cycle that we will be using when we are matched but the fees between surrogate compensation, agency fees, travel, surrogate screening, medication, support costs, insurance and attorney fees, are all greater than the number we are requesting. Hakeem and I will be matching this number and more but it is an expense we never thought we would have to pay just to hopefully have success. All donations go directly to an escrow fund for all of our gestational carrier's bills. None of the donations will be deposited to us.
