Haiti Volunteer Trip 2017
Hello friends, family, loved ones I’ve never met:
I am Leah Morken. I just graduated from Bishop Luers High School this May and preparations for our upcoming Haiti trip have begun! Through generous donations from family and friends, I was able to go to Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 2015 with my infamous teacher, Carrie Bubb and other classmates. That year our group visited multiple orphanages, delivered hygiene packs, bought goats for local families, and donated a playground to Jesus in Haiti Ministries. This trip changed my life. It changed the way I viewed the world and my role in it. I not only found a passion for service but a love for the Haitian people and culture. This summer (July 2017), we are back and our mission remains the same: serve the people of Haiti with open hearts and open minds. Many of our projects are similar from the previous year: deliver supplies to villages, visit orphanages, purchase goats, and fundraise for a construction project. We will be partnering with Ignite Your Faith Ministries to hopefully construct a school building in St. Christopher’s. At this point, the children are using a little shack, built with pieces of sheet metal and scraps, to conduct class and church events. I am here to ask for your help and to give you an opportunity to be a part of this effort. The trip costs around $1900 and all extra funds are put toward our projects. I understand it isn't cheap but I believe it is achievable with your support. All donations are appreciated and every little bit counts! I can’t tell you how excited and grateful I am to return to Haiti and partake in God’s amazing work! Thank you thank you thank you for your time and consideration. My love goes out to all of you.
God Bless
