Haiti: Emergency Relief for Arts Community

Timoun Art School (TAS) is an educational initiative for children located in the "Gran Rue" community of artists in the alleys and shanty towns of the Grand Rue (officially the Boulevard Jean-Jacques Desallines), in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.

I am organizing this emergency crowdfunding on behalf of the school.

For months, the country has been sinking into violence and unrest between gangs and police forces, with millions of people trapped in the middle.

This country no longer has the rule of law, criminal gangs control everything everywhere, rackets, kidnappings, assassinations, every day the country plunges into ever more violent chaos, organ trafficking, rape and revenge killings.

Any donations will now have to be redirected from a community workshop to relocation. This will go towards tolls, cost of new location, food, and other needs of uprooted Timoun art school students and their parents.

Another workshop is not possible for a long time, but with their art preserved they may still provide something for themselves long term while settling at the new location.
