Hailey's Service Trip with HOPE Youth Corps 2021
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Hailey Gooden and I am currently a junior in high school. This year I have been selected to take part in an amazing opportunity to serve in a HOPE Youth Corps in Hawaii with HOPE worldwide.
While most people think of glamorous hotels and beautiful beaches when they hear Hawaii mentioned, rarely do they think of the needs that exist at the same time. During this trip I will be able to help build homes for families in need with Habitat for Humanity, serve at a homeless shelter for families that helps parents find stable jobs, learn life skills and eventually transition into their own homes, and provide the children with one-on-one attention and mentoring. In addition, we will also be visiting an ecosystem to help restore habitats for endangered plants and animals that are endemic.
Your support towards this service trip would be greatly appreciated. Having this chance to learn a new culture while helping those in need is exciting and I cannot wait. While I get to serve others, I also get to meet new people, grow in my faith and mature as a teenager who is trying to find her place in the world we live in.
As a part of my effort for raising funds I will be walking 5km across the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
I am so grateful for everyone's support throughout the process leading up to this service trip, no amount is too small. I want to take every opportunity I can to make the world a better place and through this program I know that I personally can make a difference.
Thank You,
Hailey Gooden
